EFFEXOR - THE LAST WORD

CONTINUED FROM THE HOME PAGE >

...I was experiencing things that I thought I shouldn't be. It can drive you insane trying to figure it all out. It's a bit like 'thinking' you lost your keys when in fact they were stolen. You'd be looking under every nook and cranny in your house for them and get more and more frustrated as time went on. You'd be thinking, "they HAVE to be somewhere around here!!!" But once you realize they were stolen and not lost you begin to relax. You don't like it any better but at least you're not going bananas and causing yourself more stress. Something the drug is supposed to decrease.

I created this site simply to convey my experience on it and hopefully provide 'more' information so that people taking it won't think they're going nuts and people who are thinking about it will be better informed before doing so. I am not against SSRI's. They have their place in medecine and many people have benefitted from taking them. What I am against is not getting ALL the facts before taking a med. What I am against is having meds - be it SSRI's, anti-bacterials etc. - being prescribed like they are candy, which many physicians do without taking the time to see if a patient really needs it.

But like any situation you need to weigh the pros and cons to determine whether or not to go ahead with a certain action. Knowing what I know now, if I had to do it all over again I would not take effexor or any other SSRI to help me through that rough period. But if I was someone who was extremely depressed, and everyday looked grim and I never felt like engaging in life then I probably would take an SSRI. I may have the unpleasant and frustrating side effects but at least I'd be 'living' again!!

**ALWAYS, ALWAYS CONSULT WITH YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE TAKING, CHANGING OR STOPPING ANY MEDICATION - VERY IMPORTANT!!

Well, I hope this website was helpful to you and that you were a little better informed after reading it. I would LOVE to hear about your experience on effexor or just some feedback in general.
